FAQs

We know that many of you have questions about this trip. Not only about what we are planning to do, but also about supporting the trip. Some of you may have even received letters from individuals going on the trip. We hope this page helps answer some of the questions you have. If not, feel free to post comments and we’ll address them as fast as we can. Thank you for your interest!

What are you doing, again?

Nine of us from K2 The Church are going to an orphanage in a small Russian town called Yurievets (pronounced your-ah-vitz). The nine of us meet every Tuesday design curriculum plans, games, crafts and other activities for the children at Yurievets. Naturally, we want the kids to have a blast, but more than anything, we want the kids at Yurievets to know and put their faith in Jesus.

Why Russia?

Like so many third-world countries, Russia has tens of thousands of orphans.  In fact, there are 800,000 of them.  Yet, according to a recent article on NPR’s website, only 15,000 are adopted each year.  We at K2 wouldn’t have known anything about the orphans at Yurievets, Russia if it weren’t for our partner Children’s Hopechest.  With Hopechest’s help, we are bringing a message of hope one child at a time.

What do you believe?

We believe in one God, his son Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit. We also believe that Jesus Christ lived a sinless human life, willingly took upon all our sins, and physically rose after dieing.  We also believe that the bible is the inspired, infallible word of God.  We believe people matter to God, and we believe the church should be focused, tight and out there.  Of course, this is just a high-level overview.  If you’d like to know more, check out the details of what we believe.

How can I join a prayer team for Russia?

We humbly ask that you consider two ways of support: prayer support and financial support.  Without prayer, this trip will not be successful.  Period.  We firmly believe that and are actively asking teams of people to pray for us, the children, the directors, the governments and the families that are touched by this trip.  There is no end to what you can pray for, and there is no request that goes unheard before God.

Please consider praying for those involved with the trip.  Email Andy Marshall at amarshall@k2thechurch.com if you would like to know more about partnering in prayer for the trip.

What about financial support?  Is it tax deductible?

Secondly, we are humbly, humbly, humbly asking for financial support.  The costs of the trip are $3000.  This includes airfare, housing, materials and supplies for the team and kids, travel to and from the orphanage, etc.  Your contributions will help reduce the hard costs that make the trip possible.  You may support the trip in general or an individual.  And yes, your financial contributions are tax deductible.

Should you be interested in contributing financially, please email the person you are interested in supporting or Eric Winter at ewinter@k2thechurch.com.  All donations must be received by May 30.
